2015 Old Vine Sauvignon Blanc
"How do you feel about Sauvignon Blanc?"
A fortuitous mid-harvest phone call is to thank for this lovely, fruity white wine. As the story goes, Brad called Lisa in the midst of grape sorting with the simple question, “How do you feel about Sauvignon Blanc?” Luckily, Lisa loves Sauvignon Blanc and was delighted to learn that their beloved Varozza Vineyard had some fruit they could use. The vines are grown in alluvial, rocky, light-colored soil and lovingly farmed by the Varozza’s to produce just a tiny crop each year, which Leto has received a portion of since 2013. Leto Cellars’ Sauvignon Blanc is picked at the pinnacle of ripeness, and undergoes a prolonged fermentation before aging in new French oak barrels. A fragrant bouquet of white flowers on the nose is followed by a smooth entry with notes of passionfruit and melon that seemingly dance on the palate.
